La passione di Dakota Jones per lo stile di gare europeo è sfociata in un bel progetto. Dopo l’estate trascorsa in Europa e anche la bella esperienza vissuta in Italia al Sentiero delle Grigne, ha ideato una nuova gara in Colorado che sta riscuotendo già molto successo da parte dei big.
Telluride Mountain Run, 45 miles, 4.570 m D+.
I first had the idea of directing a race while in the Canary Islands in May 2012. I had just run the Transvulcania 83km race on La Palma with many of the best runners in the sport, and we all spent the following week attending a seminar on trail running hosted by the Skyrunning Federation. Their passion for the sport and commitment to high-quality mountain runs was contagious. I saw the history of the sport in Europe and the type of races that were held there. More than anything, I saw that European mountain running is different. It's steeper, more competitive and harder in every sense of the word. Whereas in America we try to put on small races with as little fanfare as possible, Europe goes all-out with helicopter footage, prize money and high-profile media storms. This difference is what will now allow myself and Reese Ruland to put on the best race in the country.
